Cağ kebabı is uniquely type of lamb kebab which originated from the Erzurum province. In point of fact, it is just kind of döner cooked on the horizontal roasting jack. Exclusively lamb can be used for preparing of this kebab not beef.
The inventor of Cağ kebabı is not known. It is accepted that its recipe goes back to 18th century. At the present time several Usta from Erzurum claim that they use the most right cooking method of this kebab.
When ready native cook is catching up upper layer with special small skewer and cutting it away. Usually Cağ kebabı is dished up one skewer after one to be the freshest. It is served with vegetable salad, onion, yogurt and different types of bread. From drinks it is preferable ayran or şalgam.
Standart price for one skewer of Cağ kebabı in Erzurum is 5-8 TL. Of course you can fınd it in almost all another big cities in Turkey like Istanbul or Ankara but the most tasty is in the Erzurum province because of original recipe and proper lamb.
